... let me first start out this blog by stating I hate cars...

... really I do, I hate being held hostage by inanimate objects covered in sludge and road scum... I hate them more than I hate root canals, IRS audits, mushy overcooked cauliflower and Communist dictatorships...

... to be more specific, I hate ripping up my knuckles on exposed bolts, I hate the taste of antifreeze spray in my sinuses, I hate lying on my back underneath a reluctant car jack with a transmission that showers down upon both mouth and eyes with rust flakes and black ditchwater while I grapple to loosen a simple connection removing the doohickey from the wotchamacallit...

... I know this is not "macho", that in fact no red-blooded American heterosexual male should fear (or even dread) the power and the fury of polished steel combined with gasoline under pressure until it explodes within a quantum defined as "horseypower"... I respect my adversary as any good samurai should, but everyone must be warned that metric and standard wrenches were never made to co-mingle and this controversy only feeds my fire... this past week I have become intimately involved with a Chevy S-10 engine, lost in all its tubes and wires in ways that would sicken a circus contortionist...

... my sad little pickup truck (nicknamed "Freedom Fighter" due to its obscure and often misunderstood Archie McPhee bumpersticker by my dear friends ~CaptainChambers and ~fae13) has suddenly lost its freedom when its timing chain decided to stop keeping time and blew out its proverbial guts into her oil pan... there is no quick-fix for this problem, in fact there have been rumors that I might be sending "Le Freedom Fighter" to the junkyards...

... for the record, I do not accept defeat easily... :stab: and since I have qualified the sex of my truck to be a "she" and not a "he" I now approach this new challenge much like winning over the heart of an ex-girlfriend...

... a very bitter, very fickle ex-girlfriend... :(

deviantID

... the Rapidograph is an innovative technical drafting pen used by artists, architects, designers, engineers and hobbyists for over 50 years to produce precise consistent ink lines through the use of its unique barrel-shaped nib and refillable cartridge... with the advent of CAD programs and disposable nylon tips in the 1990's, the Rapidograph experienced a slow demise in popularity, acquiring a reputation for its uncanny ability to clog up or leak all over your artwork just 5 minutes before finishing your piece...

*[special note]: it is not spelled "Radiograph"... a radiograph is a dental instrument that measures the density of plaque buildup on a patient's teeth, and frankly that's just plain nasty...

... so anyways, my name is Gary... I am a graphic artist by trade and a born-n-bred Pacific Northwest treehugger by nature... I have an extensive background in large-format graphics production with over 10 years experience in all aspects of sign design and custom manufacturing to include precious metals, artisan glass, fiberoptics, resin casting and faux finishes... I have a bachelor's degree in graphic design with a major emphasis in broadcast animation, and since I'm a glutton for punishment I couldn't resist getting an associate's degree as well, only this time it was in animation art & design back in 2003...

... over the years, I've worked such bizarre side jobs as a radio disc jockey, a sound effects editor, a Photoshop tutor, a shipwright, a very bad standup comedian, a banquet caterer and even a paratransit driver... much like my username, I also experienced a slow demise in popularity in the 1990's (but that's another story)...

... I have a fondness for sailboats, flying stunt kites, beachcombing, gourmet cooking on a crappy budget, 80's pop music and subculture, old Hot Wheels cars, sleight-of-hand magic, underground comix, seducing women with cheesecake and writing the great American screenplay just as soon as I finish mowing my lawn...

... and yes it's true... I have registered the use of the ellipsis or the "dotdotdot" on the internet until the year 2094... I have a US patent on it actually, and everytime someone uses it I make 1.2 cents in royalties...

Dark matter flowing out on to a tape...

... I've decided to quit the chat scene for awhile, it gave me too many stomach aches wishing for too many promises... there is nothing more frustrating than asking a long-distance friend "how are you?" and getting a response 3 weeks later...

why hello again. I am reading one of the two books you suggested I get. at least i think it was you Anyways, I had to go through great lengths to get them from my library. Let me say, the original library they're from is about 5 hours away from where I live! Thank goodness I don't have to drive there.

Anyways, just wanted to say thanks for the recommendations!
