... first, I want to thank everyone that dropped by my page with a happy birthday wish... I regret I was not online at the time to show my appreciation, I was hampered by real-life situations like winter power outages, hard drive freezes and the random trip to the hospital (no, I wasn't the passenger, I was the ambulance chaser this time)...

... secondly, I'd like to toss this topic out for discussion: have you ever established an online friendship that you thought was going somewhere, that they seemed stuck to you like glue, that they could always guess what you were going to say next in an IM... then they pulled up the welcome mat and did a vanishing act? I realize there isn't a real precedent on how you are supposed to react beyond hurt feelings; our grandparents didn't have to deal with crap like bandwidth or torrents, Facebook duckface albums or demotivational posters... I was wondering if you take it personally or say "well that's 21st century technology for ya"?

... and last, have you found anything recently online that you are dying to share with anyone?

_{... the Rapidograph is an innovative technical drafting pen used by artists, architects, designers, engineers and hobbyists for over 50 years to produce precise consistent ink lines through the use of its unique barrel-shaped nib and refillable cartridge... with the advent of CAD programs and disposable nylon tips in the 1990's, the Rapidograph experienced a slow demise in popularity, acquiring a reputation for its uncanny ability to clog up or leak all over your artwork just 5 minutes before finishing your piece...

*[special note]: it is not spelled "Radiograph"... a radiograph is a dental instrument that measures the density of plaque buildup on a patient's teeth, and frankly that's just plain nasty...

... so anyways, I am a graphic artist by trade and a born-n-bred Pacific Northwest treehugger by nature... I have an extensive background in large-format graphics production with over 10 years experience in all aspects of sign design and custom manufacturing to include precious metals, artisan glass, fiberoptics, resin casting and faux finishes... I have a bachelor's degree in graphic design with a major emphasis in broadcast animation, and since I'm a glutton for punishment I couldn't resist getting an associate's degree as well, only this time it was in animation art & design back in 2003...

... over the years, I've worked such bizarre side jobs as a radio disc jockey, a sound effects editor, a Photoshop tutor, a shipwright, a very bad standup comedian, a banquet caterer and even a paratransit driver... much like my username, I also experienced a slow demise in popularity in the 1990's (but that's another story)...

... I have a fondness for sailboats, flying stunt kites, beachcombing, gourmet cooking on a crappy budget, 80's pop music and subculture, old Hot Wheels cars, sleight-of-hand magic, underground comix, seducing women with cheesecake and writing the great American screenplay just as soon as I finish mowing my lawn...

... and yes it's true... I have registered the use of the ellipsis or the "dotdotdot" on the internet until the year 2094... I have a US patent on it actually, and everytime someone uses it I make 1.2 cents in royalties...}
