Above the bass beat of the reggae music, DeeDee heard the heater hose blow like a shotgun blast. She screamed as the car shuddered and steam gushed forth from the grill of the Subaru, filling the windshield with white lines. It looked as if the desert before her had suddenly caught fire by spontaneous combustion. Craig grabbed the wheel with his left hand as DeeDee mashed the brake with both feet. The little station wagon bounced off the sticky blacktop with a lurch, grinding to a stop in a shallow gully.

I'm looking at that and wondering how you managed the smoke. It is VERY convincing, with the way it allows layering of the trees. Good fairies aren't supposed to be evil or mean, though. I love the figures.

... thanks for your kind words and insight... the background image provided actually had some low-lying clouds already in it, I just kinda massaged the smoke into places, but I did cut the trees out into different layers and filled them in back to front to simulate the atmospheric perspective...
